Frown lines.

What it is

Frown lines (the vertical creases between the brows) are the most common reason patients walk through our door. They form from the simple, repeated work of concentration, often years before the face would otherwise show its age. At some point they stop softening with the expression and begin to read at rest.

Of all the treatments I offer, anti-wrinkle in this area is one of the most reliably satisfying. The lines respond well, the muscle is anatomically predictable, and the visible change is usually a face that reads kinder: less stern, less tired, more like the inside.

What we look for

• ●Repeated contraction of the corrugator and procerus each time you concentrate or squint
• ●Habitual frowning, often unconscious: at screens, in conversation, while reading
• ●Loss of collagen and elastin from the late 20s onward
• ●UV exposure across the unprotected glabella
• ●Sleep position pressing the brow into a folded pattern night after night
• ●Lines that have begun to read at rest, the vertical eleven that does not soften when the face does
