About this treatment
The Fotona Laser Facelift is a non-surgical, energy-based treatment that firms and conditions the lower face using an Er:YAG laser. It works in two directions, across the skin and from inside the mouth, warming the deeper tissue to prompt new collagen. It improves the firmness and quality of your own skin without needles, incisions, or the downtime of surgery. Short of an operation, it is the closest we can bring you to a lift, and it suits someone who wants to look like a rested version of themselves.
The science
The Er:YAG laser works at 2940 nm, a wavelength water absorbs strongly, so the energy is deposited in the skin rather than scattered through it. Used non-ablatively, it heats the dermis in a controlled way without removing the surface. That heat does two things: it contracts existing collagen for an immediate firming, and it triggers neocollagenesis, the laying down of new collagen, over the weeks that follow. In a 2025 meta-analysis of lasers for skin rejuvenation, the Er:YAG produced the highest share of excellent responses, with Er:YAG combined with radiofrequency judged to surpass the other methods, though results across individual studies were mixed. For the intraoral technique specifically, the published evidence is thinner than the marketing suggests. It rests on a sound mechanism and the broader Er:YAG record, and I treat it as such: real but modest support, not a proven equal to surgery.

Is a Fotona Laser Facelift the same as a surgical facelift?+
No, and it is not trying to be. A surgical facelift repositions tissue, so it does more and lasts longer. This treatment uses an Er:YAG laser to firm and condition your own skin without an operation. Short of surgery, it is the closest result we can offer, and for many people it is exactly what they wanted.
What is the laser doing inside the mouth?+
The tissue that supports the lower face sits against the inside of the cheek. One pass places the laser inside the mouth and warms that deeper layer from behind, where it is hard to reach through the skin. A second pass is done externally. The aim is controlled heat that prompts the skin to firm and make new collagen.
How many sessions will I need?+
Fotona's guidance for this treatment is a short course, commonly three to four sessions spaced about two to four weeks apart, with occasional maintenance afterwards. That is manufacturer guidance rather than a fixed rule from trials, so Dr Beiki confirms your exact plan at consultation.
Is there any downtime?+
Minimal. The non-ablative laser firms without removing the surface, so you may have some warmth or mild redness that settles within a day. Most people return to normal activities the same day.
